The September Issue of The Creative Mindset Print Newsletter

If you've been keeping an eye on the latest celebrity news, you're well aware that poor Britney Spears is at it again. She's about to lose her kids. Former body guards are testifying against her. She bombed at the VMAs.

Poor girl.

As I watch the downward spiral that has become her life, I can't help but wonder what would have happened if she'd received some mindset training along the way.

Controlling your mindset takes the drastic sine-wave mood swings and evens them out onto a solid success track... something Spears could sorely use right about now.

Sadly, in our fast paced, success at any cost, step on the little guy world we live in, the power of our mindset is often overlooked. Yet, your mindset has absolutely everything to do with your success.

After all, if you've heard Britney's latest song, you'd have to agree it's not half bad. Yet, it's utterly tanking on the charts right now. And it's because of the sorry state of her mindset.

If you see Britney, be sure to forward her the Creative Mindset Newsletter link. She really needs it.

P.S. Did you know that every single subscriber to the Creative Mindset Newsletter will receive Filbert Publishing's latest meditation CD? I've got more mind bending freebies in store, too.

What Do You Want?

Beth Ann Erickson

I've watched a lot of discussion surrounding the movie phenomenon “The Secret.” Up until now I've kept quiet on the issue, not wanting to cash in on the the gazillions of side dollars generated by this juggernaut. But the time has come for a fast comment.

In a nut shell, “The Secret” outlines how you can use the Law of Attraction” to receive everything you've ever wanted... without any effort on your part whatsoever.

Copywriter Dr. Joe Vitale swears by it. “Chicken Soup for the Soul” co-writer Jack Canfield claims it's the secret to his success. I've definitely benefited from the Law of Attraction as well. I'm also a firm believer in the Law of Attraction.

However, if you're one of the people who believe in positive thinking and yet haven't achieved everything you'd like it's probably time to explain a possible reason why: It's one thing to think a positive thought, it's quite another to actually believe those positive thoughts.

And that tiny differentiation marks the huge chasm between achieving your goals and languishing in the world of “hope.”

You see it's transforming “positive thoughts” into a solid “belief” that'll supercharge all your efforts towards your ultimate goal.

Ah... but what is your ultimate goal?

Most freelancers are far too busy with their everyday existence to give thought to what they truly want. The thought of an “ultimate goal” can feel so foreign, it could just as well exist on another realm.

And indeed, it does.

Unless you give specific thought to exactly what you want, you will forever be doomed to wander this world of freelancing always wondering what your purpose is. You won't know which way to point your efforts. You'll be rudderless upon a vast sea of opportunity.

Sure, you may make a living. You may even make a lot of money.

However, your soul will feel empty because you are the only person who possesses the unique message within you. If you don't release it, it will lie dormant forever.

Tall order, I know.

But because of the brutal realities of this business, if you don't know exactly what you want, you will find yourself chasing your tail, always striving for an impossible outcome on a project that means nothing to you on a deep level.

Sure. You want to feed your family. Fine goal. You want a roof over your head. No problem.

But these physical aspirations will not feed your soul.

Feed your soul and all your physical needs will get met in a most profound and interesting way.

You see, I've strayed from my ultimate goal more times than I can count. Every now and then, I panic and take on a project that'll feed my pocketbook. And each time, at the final conclusion of that same project, I'm left with the hollow realization that when you take on a project for the sole purpose of making money, you will earn every dollar, one cent at a time.

Now, there's nothing wrong with making money. However, when making money becomes your primary focus, that's when you'll start to run into trouble. That's when words won't flow. That's when fear fills your gut. That's when you feel like you've lost your way.

Which brings me to my original question: What do you want? How do you want to use your writing talent? What message do you bring to this beautiful world?

Answer these questions in a compelling, honest way, keep them right before your nose, and you'll rarely fall off your path. Joy will become your guide. Certainty will light your path. Love will surround you.

This I know for sure. :)

'Til next time,

Beth
